BENGALURU:  Sahitya Akademi organised Kavisandhi, a literary programme with eminent Kannada poet and Karnataka Sahitya Akademi awardee Dr Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy at Central College Campus on June 22.

The event began with Dr Chinnaswamy reading out his compositions and was followed by an interaction with the audience about Kannada literature and its rich culture.

Speaking about the event, Mr. S.P Mahalingeshwar, Regional Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, said, “Having esteemed personalities such as Dr Chinnaswamy at the event gave Kannada literature a lot of visibility. In my opinion, Kannada prose and poetry are on the decline, and we need events such as this to keep this beautiful language alive.”

A prominent Dalit voice, Dr Chinnaswamy has established a niche for himself through his various works in the field of literature and theatre. One of his famous works includes his collection of poems Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy, which have also been translated to Spanish.
