BENGALURU: “Education in India needs to have an overhaul in the methods of teaching the generations of tomorrow,” said, Dr Sandeep Sancheti President ,Manipal University, Jaipur speaking at the conference on Emerging Trends in Education on Monday.
The conference focused on the evolution of the Indian education and how the education system has become complex. Lt Gen Arjun, CEO Indus International School said, “The system is such that students who have secured 90 percent in their board exams have found it difficult to find a seat in the college that they have applied.”
Speaking on the pros and cons of international education as against the Indian education system, Mr Parth Sarwate, Founder and Director, UrbanThink, Head – Education said, “Indian educational institutions should open e-enabled learning through extensive MOOCs and online supplemented instructions that are through classroom interactions.”
This comes at a time when President Pranab Mukherjee had addressed the vice-chancellors of 40 universities and emphasised that research and innovation should be the driving force behind education.
