BENGALURU: TAG Archives Corporation Chennai, in association with Bangalore Gayana Samaja, organised “Raga identification competition” for school children at Samaja, KR Road Bangalore on Sunday

Bangalore Gayana Samaja is a musical organisation and an NGO. The main purpose of this organisation is to serve the cause of Carnatic classical music, both vocal and instrumental, which has 110 years history.

The competition required students to listen to 40 different ragas through a CD and were asked to identify those ragas.

Around 72 students from eight different schools, including some music schools, participated in this competition. Six best students were chosen as winners and each one received Rs 3000 as cash prize.

Acchutha Rao Padaki, Secretary, Bangalore Gayana Samaja said, “This competition was organised for the first time in Bangalore and we are planning to do this every year. The response was good from the participants and we are happy about it.”
