BENGALURU: The recent meat ban in Mumbai to respect the religious sentiments of Jain community who observe fasting period ‘Paryushan’ during the month of September, has turned into a political slugfest with different political parties hitting the street to slam the Maharashtra government for imposing the ban.

While the religious sentiments of Jain community are to be considered, one cannot stop wondering why the religious sentiments of Muslims and Christians were not kept in mind while banning beef, which is one of their important foods.
