21 Sept. BENGALURU: Gone are the days when tourists from various states and countries visited Bangalore but missed Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru’s power centre. They need not go back disappointed anymore since the metro construction work taking place in front of it is now completed.

It took five long years to complete the Bengaluru metro work in front of the widely recognised tourist spot of Bengaluru. But the corridors of power ‘welcome’ tourists from around the world.

Formerly, Traffic Police officials would not allow tourists to take photographs for fear that the latter would cause traffic jams.

“People were hesitant to visit the place, thinking they might meet with an accident as there were moving vehicles and construction that was happening in front of the Vidhana Soudha; but now that the road is clear and metro work has finished, tourist guides have started to bring the tourists here again,” said Chandrashekar, a photographer for the tourists at Vidhana Soudha, who has been there for the last 17 years.

Although the public are not usually allowed inside the premises, it has been two weeks since the surrounding areas of Vidhana Soudha have been open for the public.

Officials at the premises are expected to reintroduce basic facilities such as drinking water and public toilets, due to the recent increase in number of tourists.
