BENGALURU: A bronze statue of the late renowned film icon Dr. Rajkumar was unveiled at Ramakrishna Park, Girinagar on Sunday .
The statue resembles the popular character Dr Rajkumar played in the movie Mayura. The 165 kg statue cost Rs. 3.75 lakhs and was unveiled by the Sankalpa Dr Rajkumar Kannadaabhimaana Seva Trust .
“Although I’m popular in the Kannada film industry as a hero, people still identify me as Dr Rajkumar’s son first. I feel blessed for the love and encouragement I get from Kannadigas,” said actor Puneeth Rajkumar, the chief guest.
Ananthkumar, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, said “Kannada and Karnataka means we first remember Dr.Rajkumar as he represented himself as the image of the state. I am happy for being a part of this program.”
Two awards are given away at this event to Puneeth Rajkumar and Krishna Bhat , environmentalist.
L.K Srinivasaiah, President, Dr.Rajkumar Kannadabhimaana Seva Trust, said “We really got a good response from public and our dream to build the statue came true”.
