BENGALURU: A collection of 23 books on the sixteenth century saint-poet, philosopher, musician and social reformer, Kanakadasa was released by Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka in Yavanika Auditorium, Nrupatunga Road, on Sunday.
These books have been brought out by Rashtrakavi Kanakadasa Study and Research Centre as a part of promoting and propagating the work of Kanakadasa.
Out of the twenty three books released, 15 were translations of the book Sant Kavi Kanakadasa, written by Chikkamangaluru Ganesha which received a State Government grant of Rs 5.25 lakhs. The translations were done in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Tulu, Kodava, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Urdu, Beary, Sanskriti and Konkani.
The other eight books are research works done by fellows of the Centre. These eight books received a grant of Rs 7.9 lakh from the State Government for research and publication.
“In the past four years, Rashtrakavi Kanakadasa Study and Research Centre has strived hard to release these books by doing a lot of research,” said Dr C N Ramachandran, veteran literature critique.
