CAMPUS: The Social Work Department has plans to conduct mega events in the campus including an international conference on either environmental issues or specific issues on mental health and a state-level seminar to be conducted in August.

The Department also commenced its activities for the academic year 2016-17 by electing office bearers at the inauguration of the Social Work Students Association (SWSA) on Tuesday.

Mr V.Andrew, retired Superintendent of Police, Karnataka, the chief guest, gave some valuable tips to the students asking them to be ready to face any situation. He motivated them stating that each individual is a leader by themselves.

Talking to the Beacon, Dr. Mary Princess Lavanya, PG co-ordinator of the department said “It was the pro-active president Gracias John who had done all the hard work even before taking up the office; that is an example of a true leader.”

Gracias, president of SWSA, said “This association will only be successful with ideas only if each individual contributes;  it has to be a collective effort by all of us, and it is encouraging for me to see the support and love that I am receiving from my fellow classmates.”

SWSA’s vision is to give opportunities for the students to take up responsibilities and conduct events on social issues in the campus.
