He added, “At present, the law and order situation is worsening. In spite of that, Siddaramaiah’s government is allowing the sale of liquor till 1 a.m. This will increase the crime rate in the City.”
M R Venkataswamy, a JD (U) leader said, “The state is seeing an acute shortage of police officers. Instead of appointing them, the government has extended the night life. The BJP and JD (S) parties oppose this. If the government does not withdraw the extension, we will hold more protests.”
The State government recently extended the nightlife timings. Shopping malls, cinema multiplexes are open all day long and restaurants and bars can stay open till 1.a.m at night.
