BENGLAURU: Aimed to spread the message of ‘BE GOOD-DO GOOD’ on the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a mega youth campaign VIVEK BAND-2017 has been organised by Samartha Bharatha trust, an organisation promoting social volunteering among youth. The campaign will be held from January 12, 2017 to January 26, 2017.
The campaign starts with the wearing of a wrist band carrying the message ‘BE GOOD-DO GOOD’ to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, which is celebrated as National Youth Day, and lasts for 2 weeks.
Vivek Band campaign aims to reach more than 12 lakh people and let the message serve as a reminder of the immense potential and opportunities that the youth have, to transform their lives and pledge to build a strong healthy society. The campaign expects the youth to pass on the legacy of ‘BE GOOD-DO GOOD’ to more people by involving in inspiring activities and becoming active role models.
The campaign will be organising inspirational talk to spread the spirit of service and nationalism and sharing BE GOOD-DO GOOD experience on social media with #VivekBand and other platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp to reach out to others. This year Samartha Bharatha is supporting Corneal Andhatva Mukta Bharata Abhiyan (Corneal Blindness Free Bharat Movement) of SAKSHAMA, an NGO for the specially challenged. Eye-Donation will be promoted as ‘DO-GOOD’ activity for 2017.
Padmashree Awardee and Guinness world book record holder Dr. John Ebenezer, Pramila Ayippan, double Olympian and Asian games bronze awardee and Malini Bhaskar, treasurer and founder trustee of Samartha Bharatha, Pradeep Bharadwaj, Managing trustee of Samartha Bharatha, Krishna Gowda, senior manager at Wipro were present in the press meet held at press club.
