BENGALURU: Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta (IIHR) plans to host Regional Horticultural Fair from January 15-19, 2017 at Hesaraghatta.
This Fair has been sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, Government of India.
Speaking to the media Dr M.R. Dinesh, Director, IIHR said, “The five day program envisages knowledge management on recent innovations of tools and technologies in the area of horticulture. It will also address emerging challenges of climate change, abiotic and biotic stresses, energy crisis, value chain management and markets through showcasing and interactions between subject matter specialists, model farmers in the first three days.”
The last two days will focus on taking the farmers to demonstration trials, hi-tech nurseries, progressive farmers’ fields, mega food parks and high end markets of horticultural producers,” he added.
Speaking on the salient activities of the Fair, Dr R. Venkatta Kumar, Head, Division of Social Sciences and Training – IIHR said, “Regional Horticultural Fair will host an exhibition comprising of stall from government organizations, including ICAR institutes and SAUs of Southern States, development departments, non-governmental organizations, private industries agencies etc.”
“The Fair will also hold panel discussion related to the theme horticulture for rural and urban prosperity,” he added.
