BENGALURU: Karnataka State Police Annual Sports Meet, that started last year, closed on January 17,2017. The closing ceremony had finales of the following events: 100mts (men and women), tug-of-war, 4 x 100mts Relay (men and women).
Participants from various districts and units in Karnataka took part in various events. After the races, there was a display of march past by all the units of Karnataka State Police Department.
This was followed by prize distribution ceremony. Vikas Y Hegde from KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) and Vanitha R from Dakshin Kannada unit bagged the first position in 100 mts in men and women category, respectively. The winners for 4 x 100mts relay were the KSRP team in mens category and Central Range Team from Bengaluru City in womens category. The rolling trophy for hand ball was bagged by Mysuru City team. Vikas Y Hegde was declared as the best athlete of KSRP. The best shooter in revolver shooting competition from Gazette Officers was Jagadhisha, Principal, KSRP, Kangrali.Winners of other events like shot put, revolver shooting, lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, snookers were also by Kannika Parameshwari Parameshwara, wife of Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwara.
“I don’t want to talk much about the event. I thank the participants more than the winners. I wish the winners reach greater heights and win more medals. Sports are very important in our life. It is without caste, creed or religion. It crosses all these barriers. Not just in our local region, but all over the world,” said Dr G. Parameshwara, Home Minister of Karnataka while addressing the gathering.
Om Prakash, Director General of Police, Karnataka, thanked all the guests and their families for attending the event.
