SJCC to host ‘Kalavara’

CAMPUS: The Kannada Sangha of St Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC) to host ‘Kalavara,’ an intercollegiate Kannada cultural fest on February 23, 2017.

Dr. Daniel Fernandes, principal of SJCC will be the Chief Guest for the fest.

Ashoka T. A, Associate Professor of Dept of Kannada, speaking to The Beacon said, “Every Kalavara fest is a theme-oriented festival, and this year theme is ‘Folklore’. It is a unique festival, which provides the platform to students from the rural area.”

“Around 17 colleges have registered for various competitions, and we’re expecting more than 300 participants,” Vinayaka MV, President of the Kannada Sangha said. ‘Neena-Naana,’ is a multi-dimensional personality talent testing extempore competition, which is the highlight of the fest, he added.

The various competitions this year are essay writing, poetry writing, quiz, folk dance, debate, mono acting, group songs and more.
