BENGALURU: Students from different engineering colleges collaborated with high school students to create innovative models and establish dialogues in the science and engineering fair in Shikshakara Sadana on February 22,2017.
Anveshana is an initiative by Agastya, an international foundation that focuses on the upliftment of disadvantaged rural children and teachers to bridge the gap between schools and engineering colleges to develop innovation and creativity through mentoring.
The fair facilitated the process of mentoring between engineering students and school students while they designed and made their models. It helped the students establish a link between colleges and schools and other prominent institutes like Indian Institute of Science, Institution of Engineers and Indian Institute of Technology.
Rakshith BP, a student from BMS College of Engineering said, “Programmes like Anveshana provide us a platform to showcase our innovative and creative talents which are most needed in our fields. It is a good opportunity for us to meet professionals and field experts.”
Nearly 100 models were displayed and 40 were shortlisted for final prototyping and evaluation. Around 80 school students underwent direct training in model making, improving their design, conceptualisation and leadership skills. In addition, they will receive training in soft skills viz. ‘Team Work, Communication’ thus, improving their confidence level.
