BENGALURU: “Gender equality can be achieved by providing women with opportunities in all the fields. Every government has a responsibility to provide opportunities economically, socially and politically to women,” said Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, at the inauguration of International Women’s Day 2017 event organized by Government of Karnataka in association with COWE (Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs) on March 8 at Hotel Lalit Ashok.

Deshpande, during his address stressed that if economy and education has to benefit the society, it should not be forgotten that women are an integral part of the machinery.He also called for more involvement from women entrepreneurs in the service industry and asked them to identify sunshine industries and create employment opportunities for the younger generation.Citing that the biggest challenge of the 21st century is to have skilled human resources.He urged the women entrepreneurs present at the gathering to join forces with various universities and other bodies and enable the youth to acquire skills that the industry and trade require.
While addressing the gathering, Kharge mentioned about the success of various projects and highlighted the travelling fare concession charges for solo female travellers to any of the jungle lodges in the state.He also expressed his commitment to prioritizing 20% of the 650 seats across 4 cities in the business incubation centres to women entrepreneurs.Idea to POC scheme that has been receiving positive reviews from across the country was another tool at the disposal of the women entrepreneurs, he assured.
