BENGALURU: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP), celebrates Women’s Day for the first time on March 8, 2017 with the collaboration of Women Child Corporation (WCC).
“The day is specially dedicated for women and celebrating all over the world. This is the first time we are conducting programmes along with Women Child Corporation. We invited women entrepreneur those who are emerging in the field,” said G. Padmavathi, Mayor in the city.

Film producer Parvathamma Rajkumar inaugurated the event. During the event, Department of Social Welfare under BBMP were distributed machineries for sewing, knitting and embroidery to tailoring centres run by the civic bodies in the city.
Women entrepreneurs from various part of the city gathered and put up stalls to exhibit their products. Products like clothing, handcraft, and decorative items with natural products were showcased for the audience. “This is the seventh year of working in my field. I am using all natural products like corn leafs and banana leafs and decorating with different patterns. I feel this is a good chance for me to display my talents and skills,” said Jayalakshmi an entrepreneur in the event
