CAMPUS: “The ideas that you work with, the ideas that you create is your character,” said Bappaditya Banerjee at a Character Design Masterclass at St Joseph’s College (Autonomous).
Banerjee, a senior VFX artist in Technicolor India, explained about the process of animation and the gist of all the background work that goes into the making of content.
In animation, understanding real-time motion is very important, he explained.
Banerjee, once a pre-production artist with Chotta Bheem-makers Greengold Animation, also explained that when one creates a story, there has to be a background or back-story, physical evidence and other elements to characters.
“Break the pause, break the conventions. Create something new, create something that’s entirely new,” he said.
He also urged the students to spend time in exploring their imagination and bringing it to life.
“Don’t let your tools limit you. Use every little thing you own. Be as creative as possible,” he told the masterclass participants.
